Travis is getting pretty good at sitting these days, although he is still pretty tipsy. He was too cute on the grass outside last night so I had to take a video of him. Enjoy

24th
I guess the biggest benefit to me about living in Utah is that you get two "fourth of July's" in one month - and watching conference on TV of course. We had a great 24th - relaxing and exciting at the same time. Aaron got to sleep in and I got a nice afternoon nap. Whitney woke up bright and early at 6 to ride her bike - so after Travis woke up and was fed I ventured for the first time running with the two and it went amazingly smooth. Of course we ended at the park where it only took 5 min. for whitney to "fill her pants" and needed to go home before we stunk up the whole sports park. We went home changed both kids and started new - this time Whitney rode her bike all the way to the playground on her bike while I held Travis and supervised. It went smooth until the trip home when whitney finally realized she got up a little too early and had a mental breakdown. At least I was rewarded when we got home by Aarons omlets - ooooo so much good!
Anyway, I got a nice long nap while Aaron did projects and then we went to the Spanish Fiesta Days Carnival. I must say, they do a pretty good carnival, but it was a little too lagoonish for me - I didn't mind just being a spectator.
Whitney did much better on the rides this time - a good nap goes a long ways with this kid. We started her off on the merry-go-round, which was good timing since it started raining just then. (The weather was overcast and so nice)

Aaron even got in a couple high speed ride - comparible a little to colossis and the scrambler at lagoon. (a very little colossis)

I call this Aaron's tough guy picture - strutting his stuff in his football shirt after conquering the mini colossis
My favorite was that Aaron took Whitney in the Ferris Wheel - a test of his patience since they were in there for at least a half an hour - he even got bored enough that he danced for 5 seconds - something you NEVER see Aaron do! Despite all this Whitney loved it and I got to see a kid puke over the edge - luckily he missed the riders under him and only splashed some spectators.
After the carnival we went to Red Robin - a favorite of ours - and by some miracle our kids were good through pretty much all of this. When we came home Aaron treated Whitney to a motorcycle ride. Aaron borrowed his friends motorcycle so we could have a nice gettaway from the Spanish Fork Rodeo we went to on Saturday (which was so much fun). He always makes sure he puts it to good use while he has it.
We played with the neighbors for a while - played a mean game of volleyball and then got front row seats to the firework show. They do the fireworks across the street at the sports park so me and Aaron just layed out a blanket and enjoyed. The kids must have been worn out because neither woke up - which we didn't mind one bit. This was honestly such a perfect holiday for me - a little fun and relaxation is what it's all about!

Whitney's Bike
It only took a day and a half of persistence by Whitney constantly talking about bikes for me to give in and by a cheapo bike at Walmart. That is the capitol of cheap toys! The other day whitney was riding a neighbors bike and that is all that has been on her mind since. She was funny at the store - I took the bike down so that she could try it out and I couldn't get her off it - so she rode it to the checkout and then to the car - all they way making sure to tell everyone in the store that this was Whitney's new bike. I took some video of her so Jeff and Selly could get thier "Whitney fix."

life's getting better!
I am really loving my life these days! There is something about when a baby reaches 5 months that I get some freedom back and my kids really become fun again - Whitney was cute but I loved from 5 months on. Of course I have my days and moments, but honestly I am really happy with my life right now. We finally found a way to keep both of our kids entertained at the same time. Aaron put some screw hooks in the archway of our front room and we attached a swing. Both of our kids are big fans! Here is a clip Aaron took - it was so nice - they did this for about a half an hour and we hope it continues!
The first night Aaron put Travis in the swing while I was at a YW activity and apparently it worked it's charm. Aaron said Travis was out!
Here is another video of our everyday life. I know it's strange but the only way I can eat in peace is if I put Travis on the table - and yes, I watch him very closely because he is everywhere. These days though I'm more concered with him grabbing my food than rolling off the table. Here is a definate everyday scene in our house.

Whitney go to Playground
Yesterday we went to the park. This is becoming more of a routine than an event. About twice a week I take the midgets in the stroller and go rollerblading while whitney waits in anticipation for the climax - the playground at the end of the route. Yesterday was so nice though, I guess we were early enough that we beat everyone to the playground, we had it all to ourselves for a good half hour. It was so nice that we decided to make a trip home for popsicles and the camera and come back. I love that Travis is getting used to the stroller - we can actually go places now, and I think I might dare running with them - rollerblading is safe - I can get home fast if needed.
The beauty of popsicles. I can get Whitney to do almost anything with a popsicle. She was in heaven until she spilled the juice all over her. But while she was crying over that - another kid showed up just then and so she started trying to make conversation by yelling "Whitney spilled popsicle - see". It must have worked its charm because they were best friends for the next half hour we were there.

I was pretty impressed with this picture - way to sacrifice your body for the popsicle - she actually landed it too.
I want to put a climbing wall in our basement so bad - this is whitney's favorite thing to do at the park - and if I can brag - she's pretty darn good too. It's so fun to watch

Sweet Summertime!!
I wait miserably all winter for these days!! It is so fun to be able to go outside and play with my kids whenever I want. This past week was good - we definately didn't get bored. On Tuesday Me and Aaron got spoiled and our neighbor took us and some other couples boating. It was the perfect evening too - calm warm water and not to hot outside. After about 3 failed attempts, I finally got the hang of wake boarding - something I definately want to do some more of - I guess because it's the closest to surfing that I'll get for a while. We also did the huge water weenie - which was fun too, but there is something about knowing anyone can plow you over at any second that takes some of the fun out and turns it into fear! It was a blast but honestly my arms are still a little sore from it - I couldn't feel them for a couple days after (which made holding Travis interesting).
On Thursday Travis turned five months - a moral victory for me. Each month during the first year I celebrate surviving another month. He is such a cute kid though and thankfully is starting to get somewhat of a schedule and going to bed a little earlier!! Even when I'm dead tired or frustrated, if he flashes me his big smile it melts my heart. These are his 5 month old birthday pics.
Friday my mom and dad saved me once again and took Whitney to thier house so that I would only need to worry about Travis at our wards YW Camp. For some strange reason - I still love girls camp, although getting my sleep is precious. My friend Lyndsie was up there and nice enough to watch Travis so I could go on the hike - which was sweet. It was only like a mile up, but you were rock climbing over boulders and through tunnels and at the end was this wall with a little waterfall you could rock climb. It was a challenge and only me and another leader who rock climbs did it. It was really fun to play with the girls and things went really smoothly - even camping with Travis that night. We went to my parents house Saturday morning to find Whitney in heaven. She loves Grandma and Grandpa and everytime I go there I realize how lucky I am to have such amazing parents!
My mom bought whitney this purse decked out with keys, a phone, sunglasses, and pretend makeup. She takes it everywhere and it is so cute. We even had to take it to church minus the keys and phone which make sounds.
I guess I complained enough about last sunday at church because this sunday was a breeze! Heavenly Father must have given me a break since I paid my dues at girls camp.
I know I've already written a small novel but I have to just briefly tell some funny things my kids do and show some pictures.
Whitney for some reason is obsessed with shoes. She tries on almost every pair of shoes she sees and throws a tizy if they are too small. I bought some cheapo shoes at walmart for Travis and got a pretty good laugh when I found Whitney wearing them. (it was quiet for a minute so I knew she was up to something)
Also - along with sunglasses whitney stole the neighbors goggles and insisted on me constantly putting them on. Of course I couldn't refuse because they look dead sexy on her!
Travis caught the craze too - Aaron was having some fun with him

The church is true
I remember before I had kids how I would sit in church and watch parents take their child out or a mother standing in a corner holding a baby and thinking - that looks like fun, church would be that much better if I got to "take a break" by taking a kid out or stand and move around with a baby. Oh how wrong I was. Yesterday was one of those horrible, terrible, no good very bad days. All went well in the morning - at least until 9am when our church starts. I'm not sure if Whitney doesn't understand the concept of whispering or if she just doesn't want to - because as much as I try to practice that concept - it sure hasn't worked. I'm pretty sure at least half of the congregation hears everything she says during sacrament meeting! At first I try to stuff her mouth with food - usually fruit snacks, but she downs those by the end of the opening prayer. So then I attempt books and coloring which she loves - but has to comment on everything - loudly. This is really cute everyday of the week except Sunday - and in the car.
This Sunday it didn't help either that Travis has discovered his voice! It's not a soft coo either. He has good lungs and sounds like a terodactyl. He decided to express his dislike for church in a nice high pitched scream-like voice. We of course sat too close to the front so everyone saw us make about 4 trips in and out of the chapel (and that doesn't even included Travis' blow-out before the meeting started). During Sunday School I walked around with an tired Travis outside since Aaron always takes him during Priesthood so I can pay attention in YW- he was not a happy camper, but at least Whitney was happy in Nursery - Until, as she says it, "Mommy I pooped in Nursery." So I got to hear the announcements in YW and then went to change a diaper. But Aaron had taken the car (that held the diapers) for a drive to put Travis to sleep since he was beyond calming. Once we finally located each other there was about 10 min. left in church and I hope I'll be forgiven but I just packed the kids in the car and drove home.
These are the times that I appreciate that I know the church is true. Even though these are painful experiences - the few moments I do have in church to listen - I appreciate hearing a message that strengthens me and reminds me that this too will pass and that it is a blessing to just have two wonderful loud kids. We truly have been blessed with cute, loud children. So in all the bad - there is good, and I'm not just saying that because the day is over! But these are also the days I wonder how people have a lot of kids. Unless they have quiet kids.

demolition derby
Me and Aaron made the brave attempt to take the kids on Saturday night to a demolition derby. To be honest, I didn't even really know what happened at a demolition derby, but the tickets were free and I felt brave so we went. We thought we were in big trouble when it was REALLY windy and raining on the drive there - the only thing we brought for bad weather was Travis' hat. We thought of turning around and going home, but honestly I think we just kept going because we had nothing else to do but clean the house.
It turned out to be a lot of fun. The weather ended up being perfect, no wind or rain and not too hot. Of course Whitney and Travis didn't last long sitting on a bench seat - so I watched from the side as I held Travis and Whitney played with the rocks. It was pretty fun to watch - these jacked-up cars trying to smash eachother until there was only 1 car left running. I would rank it up there, but definately not as good, with a rodeo.
Here is a beautiful picture of Whitney doing what she did 90% of the time - check out the rocks, this kid is so happy when she is allowed freedom to wander!

This is a pretty bad picture of the cars all prettied up before they smashed the heck out of each other. For some reason there is such a thrill in watching real life bumper cars - it was honestly so entertaining to watch these grown men act like little boys and smash eachother.

Fourth of July
I love the 4th of July since I get to be a piro. There is something about watching fireworks that gives me a thrill and an appreciation for my country! We had a really good 4th. It pretty much started on the 3rd since Whitney got to stay up late and watch the YW do fireworks. I think she was more excited that she got to play with the neighbor kids than she was about the fireworks! We started out our day by going to the Provo Freedom Festival which was a little to packed for my taste - but I got a snowie and some toasted almonds - so no complaints here!
Tavis was so good at the festival - I think he likes chaos. It was funny to watch him reach for everything in sight - he even got to my snowie a couple times without me knowing. I gave him the paper from my roasted almonds and that provided a good 15 min of entertainment - a secret I learned from Lori & Spencer.
We ended by taking whitney on some rides. She loved the rides at first but pretty soon the sleep deprivation kicked in and she cried during the next couple rides. So after a long nap we played volleyball with the neighbors and then did some more fireworks. It was a nice somewhat relaxing day - I'm always happy when my husband gets a day off!
